Lefevre Quartet signs with Canaan

As reported on the Singing News website and several blogs, Canaan Records have signed the Lefevre Quartet.  On one hand, I’m happy to see the Lefevre Quartet get some exposure outside of strange comments at a NQC showcase.  On the other hand, the revival of Canaan Records hasn’t exactly set the genre on fire.  It has been almost a year since the first announcement and the label has just now signed its second artist.  The label has released two projects, a compilation of older material that wasn’t too hard to find in the first place and a release by the Hoppers that had already been out for months before the group signed with Canaan.  They do have the current #1 song with “I’m Just Waiting For My Ride,” but how much does that have to do with the record label?  The Hoppers always seem to be up at the top of the charts.

If they want to get me really interested, release an original project or start working on getting their back catalog available for purchase (*cough* digital downloads *cough*).

  1. I would be curious to know what goes on in a typical day at the Canaan Records office. Do they even have a staff or is it just a sideline project for Dave Clark?

  2. David, I think that is a very good question.
