Sports Rant 1: Patriots taping since 2000

I’m posting two things about sports today.  Hopefully, I’ll get to a music post later today.  If not, head to Wes’ blog to read this and post your thoughts on the subject.

In NFL commissioner Roger Goodell’s meeting with Sen. Arlen Specter, Goodell revealed that the Patriots have been taping opposing coaches since Bill Belichick’s arrival as head coach in 2000.  Belichick’s defense is that he misinterpreted the rule.  My question is how does he explain the times they taped coaches after the first time they were warned not to.  He’s a grown man.  You can’t misinterpret “That’s cheating.  Don’t do that again.”

If the Patriots have been taping since 2000, that means they were taping coaches leading up to their Super Bowls.  Do they expect us to believe that they did this leading up to the Super Bowl, but not during the Super Bowl?  (Mr. Walsh, you have a call on line 1.  Something about a video tape.)
