Favre Retires

According to this breaking news alert on ESPN.com, Green Bay Packers’ QB Brett Favre is retiring.  He is one of the all time greats.  If nothing else, I enjoyed watching him take away most of Dan Marino’s records.

The worst part of his career (to me anyway) was that he was so close to being a New York Jet.  I remember watching the draft and the guys on ESPN kept talking about how the Jets were excited because they were going to draft Favre.  Then the Atlanta Falcons drafted him the pick before the Jets.  The Jets ended up drafting Browning Nagle (Who??? Exactly my point.).  One of the Jets’ front office guys wound up going to Green Bay the next year and traded a draft pick to the Falcons for Favre, and the rest is in the history books.

So long and good luck, Brett.
