NFL punter Sean Landeta retires

Sean Landeta has retired from the NFL. The ESPN article mentions that he was the last player from the USFL to retire and that he did it on the 25th anniversary of the first USFL game.

More importantly, he is the last player from Tecmo Bowl (original NES version) to retire from the NFL. (link courtesy of Virtual NES)

UPDATE:  That last part may be a little obscure.  If you are a guy that grew up during the 80s, you probably understand.  Otherwise, just understand that Tecmo Bowl was one of (if not THE) first video football games to include real NFL players.  People still talk about it and play the game today, even with all the new prettier and fancier games available.

  4. Wow………Tecmo Bowl! That sure brings back memories.

(I have the ROM of the game on my computer that I still play. Lots of fun…..)

  5. Adam, have you ever played any of the updated Tecmo Super Bowl hacked roms? They have updated rosters, new logos, and there’s even some with college teams floating around. A few of the new ones have even added teams to the game (original game had I think 28, the new roms have all 32 teams).
