Below is how I hope the first seven picks of tomorrow’s NFL draft turn out. I know I’m dreaming that Chris Long falls to my Jets. The other possibilities scare me. McFadden and his off the field troubles are too risky to bring into New York. Gholston could be a workout warrior who doesn’t translate to on the field success (plus, he went to Ohio State, which I hate). Ryan would demand too much $$$ as the first QB taken, and we already have two QBs. The team has to give Kellen Clemens a chance to play behind an offensive line that isn’t offensive.
- Miami – Jake Long, OT, Michigan
- St. Louis – Glenn Dorsey, DT, LSU
- Atlanta – Matt Ryan, QB, Boston College
- Oakland – Darren McFadden, RB, Arkansas
- Kansas City – Vernon Gholston, DE, Ohio St.
- New York JETS – Chris Long, DE, Virginia
- New England – falls asleep and fails to turn in a draft card until Monday
If Chris Long is picked before the sixth pick, I’d like the Jets to trade down for Dallas’ two first round picks and a third or fourth round pick.
