Moment of … disappointment

I have to say I’m disappointed by Solid Gospel’s listening party for Gold City’s new Moment of Truth project that was broadcast today at 10:00 AM.  The reason for disappointment is the fact that they didn’t play any of the tracks from the new CD.    Steve Ladd told me last week that they had just finished their vocals a couple of weeks ago.  Danny said in the interview that they are still mixing the project, so they must not have had any songs ready to be played.  While that explains why they didn’t play any new tracks from the project, it doesn’t explain the press release that was sent out Wednesday that said they would be playing the new tracks.  I would think they would have known before the press release was sent out that they did not have any of the new tracks ready.

I’m speculating, but I’d say this listening party was scheduled months in advance and was booked as a  sneak peak for Moment Of Truth.  With the departure of Jonathan Wilburn, the new project has taken longer than expected to complete.  The listening party was still scheduled and billed as such, they just didn’t have any of the tracks ready to play.  Again, that’s my uneducated guess.

A few interesting notes from the interview with the guys:

  • the Live From The National Quartet Convention DVD is being released today (street date is June 3)
  • Moment Of Truth will include a song titled “Children Believe” that features Danny
  • The new project will also include a patriotic song that features Bruce, with Steve’s little boy saying the Pledge of Allegiance
  • “God’s Still Good” (from Revival) has been nicknamed “Rough Patch”
  • New Haven Records’ Ken Harding was also in the Solid Gospel studio during the interview
  • Harding mentioned that Gold City took more time going over the song selection for this new project than any other project that he has ever been a part of

  1. […] for Live At The National Quartet Convention (DVD) to be in stores was June 10. Brandon Coomer reported that it would be out on June 3. Either way, it’s coming out soon. 1 Look Who Just Checked In […]

  2. The song “What Children Believe” is a Brent Lamb song, and I think it will be very interesting to hear Gold City sing it. Anyway, I was a little disappointed with the interview as well, but I can’t wait for the new album.

  3. Huh? They put “God’s Still Good” on this project under the different name?

  4. No, Quaid. They just nicknamed the song “Rough Patch”. Danny said when they are singing and he wants to do “God’s Still Good,” he shouts “Rough Patch” at Josh. That’s Josh’s signal to play the song.
