Jerry Martin Departs Dove Brothers

The Dove Brothers Quartet has announced through a press release on the Singing News website that long time tenor Jerry Martin is leaving the group and a new tenor will be named very soon.  According to the press release, Jerry “felt it was time to make some changes in his career.”

I saw the Dove Brothers perform two sets at Dollywood on Tuesday and commented to a couple of friends that Jerry looked less than thrilled to be there.  Perhaps this decision was weighing on his mind then.  Still, Jerry is one of SGM’s finest tenors and this will be a huge loss for the group, who I thought had one of the best sounds currently in the industry.

Martin’s departure, along with Troy Peach leaving the Perrys as announced yesterday, makes it two major SGM groups going through shakeups this week.
